"These aren't your typical collaborations. LiveConnections ... creates synergy between Philadelphia-area musicians and other talent that would normally be unlikely bedfellows."
Philadelphia Magazine, 2015

Philadelphia Weekly, 2014

Are you ready for adventurous musical collaborations?

Prefer your cutting-edge music in an intimate venue with a cocktail in hand?

Our LiveConnections Presents concert series (formerly ClassicAlive) features collaborative concerts especially for adventurous music-lovers.  The performances provide the opportunity for musicians to create distinctive, boundary-crossing music, frequently involving new commissions and world premieres. Our partner venue World Cafe Live provides a relaxed atmosphere for audiences to experience cutting-edge compositions and innovative music.

Curated by double bassist Mary Javian, the concerts highlight LiveConnections’ distinctive cross-genre collaborations and interest in reaching new audiences. Programs typically pair classically trained musicians with artists from diverse genres, including rock, hip-hop, spoken word, traditional Arab music, dance and Brazilian percussion. LiveConnections initiates the partnerships and works with the artists to craft the programs and select repertoire. Importantly, several of the partnerships introduced by LiveConnections have resulted in ongoing collaborations between the artists and ongoing relationships with LiveConnections.

Our concert artists frequently participate in our educational Bridge Sessions as well, providing opportunities for youth to hear the same music as concert-going adults.

Check out our current season.
