LiveStudioPhiladelphia 10/23/2013 — LiveStudio kicked off today with the first live-streaming of our "World of Percussion" Bridge Session to Art-Reach members serving populations with physical and developmental disabilities.

We had almost 120 people from 9 different service organizations in-house at our partner venue World Cafe Live and another 120 or more tuning in from residential facilities. Today's session was the first of three Bridge Sessions this season presented in partnership with Art-Reach, in which members will participate both on-site and at their own locations.

At Woods Services in Langhorne, PA, 60 youth and staff gathered in the gym to watch the session projected on a large screen. Students were clapping along, laughing at jokes, one boy got up to dance. They hollered out answers to questions and participated as if they were at the venue.

The staff were enthusiastic and plan to tune in regularly. One staff person said, "Wait, is this live? Happening at World Cafe Live right now? This is amazing!"

We’re thrilled to be kicking off this programming and grateful to the Knight Foundation, 25th Century Fund and Wyncote Foundation for their support in making LiveStudio possible, as well as to Art-Reach for being such an enthusiastic partner.

Our next live webcast will take place this coming Sunday, October 27 from noon until about 1:30 p.m. Tune in on your computer or mobile device via our website to watch the Elizabeth Hainen concert as it's happening!

Celebrating our fifth anniversary, LiveConnections creates innovative, boundary-crossing music programming and education. Our LiveStudio video initiative makes high quality performances accessible to underserved populations who are unable to travel to the venue.
