Kids Count Campaign

I am a drum.
I play my music in a classroom with my teacher while stomping on the floor.
I am a loud tiger with my friends, but alone and quiet when the day ends.
I am awesome inside, but also a mess from time to time.
But I’m still going to try.
I am love from my family.
I am hope from my dreams.
And I am happiness from my heart.
I AM going to leave my mark.

—Nasirah Huff, Philadelphia, 8th grade participant in LiveConnections’ Percussion Studio summer camp

***

We love the confidence of Nasirah: eager to embrace her song, ready to give it her all. She’s going to leave her mark. She got to express her confident spirit because you believe kids count.

We're excited to launch our 2015 Kids Count Campaign. Since 2008, we've reached more than 24,000 youth through our work. Almost all of these are from the city of Philadelphia. 99% participate for free.

Arts education has been disappearing from city school budgets, and many of the kids who take part in our programs have limited or no music opportunities at school. LiveConnections fills that gap!

From our interactive Bridge Sessions at World Cafe Live, to our Percussion Studio summer camp, to producing an album with an entire city school next year, we're creating in-depth ways for kids to engage with music.

Our campaign goal is $25,000 in just 9 days. That's 2,000 more kids attending LiveConnections programs.

Help us raise $25,000 by May 20! Donate today!

  • $100 gets 8 kids to a Bridge Session.
  • $500 sponsors a bus full of kids.
  • $1000 brings a whole grade!

Could you be a Kids Count Sustainer by pledging just $12 a month? That way, every month you get to picture a kid who's experiencing great music because of you!

Maybe you can play a drum or a violin. Maybe you can’t. But one sure way to leave your mark is to help kids like Nasirah know that you believe they deserve the opportunities of great arts education—because kids count!

Thank you!
